The Rotary Club of Auckland Harbourside’s glamorous annual Chinese New Year Gala Ball Committee preparing for another fundraising event in Support of Cure Kids, Epilepsy Research

Research project description:

Epilepsy is the most common serious neurological illness of children and young people with 450 children newly diagnosed each year. There are an estimated 7,300 New Zealand children under the age of 15 years with epilepsy; one in four children with severe epilepsy will die before they become adults. The primary goal of Associate Professor Lynette Sadleir’s current research, currently funded through Cure Kids, is to improve the treatment of children with epilepsy through faster diagnosis, and a better genetic understanding of what causes the condition. Funding from Rotary Harbourside will enable the continuation of this world-class project.
